On January 24, 2017, NovoLanguage and Uitgeverij Deviant proudly presented their 3D VIP Room (3D Virtual Interaction Presentation Room) at the Nederlandse Onderwijs Tentoonstelling (NOT) 2017 in Utrecht, attracting widespread attention from teachers and learners alike. The 3D VIP Room combines virtual reality with automatic speech recognition into a highly immersive and interactive language learning experience. Because of this unique combination, the app has been nominated for the NOT Innovation Award.
The 3D VIP Room ‘teleports’ attendees of the conference to a market square, where they are going to shop in English. In close cooperation with Uitgeverij Deviant, who wrote the story and provided the learning material, NovoLanguage developed the application and implemented its advanced speech technology.
The only requirements for a learner to experience the 3D VIP Room are a smartphone and a set of cardboard VR glasses, making virtual reality a highly accessible learning solution for the classroom.
The NOT is held until 28 January 2017 at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Attendees are invited to visit Uitgeverij Deviant at their stand in Hall 9D040, where the 3D VIP Room is demonstrated throughout the day.
